Description of the project

Project "Young Poles, Ukrainiens, Germans (.) is a one-week long cycle of the seminar sessions organized at Tischner European University in Krakow and International Youth Meeting Centre in Oswiecim. In opinion of organizers a civil society as a one of the bases of democracy, contributes to improvement in peoples' relations, what effectuates as a result of a sense of social bond and initiating common activities. Calling the conception of European society helps to answer the question about possibilities of creating transnational
civil society. In organizers' opinion, youth take a leadership in that process and by openness and positive attitude towards each other is able to elaborate common civil initiatives what results in ability to shape the reality surrounding them.

Effects of the project

Prominent results of the project will contain creation of publication (including essays on theme of the project written by experts, organizers and participants of the seminar), Internet website (Polish
and English version) and press publication (Tygodnik Powszechny), what influence the promotion of activities being accomplished in idea of a civil society, the European Union, the intercultural dialogue
and international cooperation. A multimedia CD showing the course of the seminar will be made as well (this will include a report from the seminar, photos and a short film). A tool, which the contact and further cooperation in the future between seminary participants will be supported by is an Internet forum. Publication and multimedia CD will be sent to universities and institutions dealing with spreading
the idea of a civil society and intercultural cooperation based on tolerance and mutual understanding (foundations, NGOs, diplomatic outposts and others).

Terms of participation
  1.. Age 18-26 years;
  2.. Student or graduate statute
  3.. Interest in the area of international relations, history, political science and philosophy

  4.. Fluent English.
