Short information:
In summer 2009 the international volunteer camp titled "Bridges of the future" will take place around Kremenets. The young people from German, Poland and Ukraine would be invited to participate in this camp. This project is organized by the nongovernmental organization "European Dialogue".
Kremenets is the one of the oldest towns of Ukraine, famous because of its unique cultural and historical heritage, which belongs to many nations, firstly those, who lived there for centuries. The conservation of the architectural ensemble and renewal of the tradition to commemorate renowned individuals who lived in Kremenets will allow transforming this town into a beautiful pearl of Central Europe.
The main idea of the workcamp is to demonstrate to the people from neighboring countries the common basis of their historical and cultural heritage as well as the reality of coexistence and also to give the guidelines for joint geopolitical development.
Types of volunteers' activity which are planned to be executed are as follows:
1. Botanic garden – area cleaning. Last year the town celebrated the 200 anniversary of its establishment.
2. Catholic church of St. Stanislav – the assistance in restoration works and putting in order both the internal and external areas.
3. Polish cemetery –putting in order graves interesting from historical point of view.
4. Cossack cemetery – putting in order graves, crosses restoration. Cossack cemetery was built after the storm of the Kremenets castle in 1648.
5. Jewish cemetery – one of the eldest cemeteries in the Europe (XV cent.)
Furthermore, in the course of project the following actions are planned:
• round table with the members of Ukrainian youth organizations aiming at cross-border cooperation and possibilities of integration of Ukraine into the European Union.
• seminar for the representatives of the Ukrainian local administration, local communities and youth nongovernmental organizations.
Besides that, the realization of some micro projects during the camp duration period is considered as an important project component. So, the following kinds of activities may be performed:
• Preparation of advertising brochure about Kremenets in English, German, Polish and Ukrainian;
• Further development and maintenance Kremenets web-site of in English.
