The Centre for Russian and East European Studies at the University of Birmingham has up to 5 studentships for doctoral research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences relating to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Given that many of the themes of the fellowships (cities, energy, health, social inequality, migration, identity) are central to human geography, co-supervision may be arranged with a number of colleagues from the School of Geographical, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES) who work on these issues in the Central and Eastern European context. Full funding is available to UK citizens and other EU citizens who have resident status in the UK. For non-resident EU citizens the scholarship would cover fees only. More information about is available at: http://www.gees.bham.ac.uk/research/cpp/members.htm Information about staff interests in the Culture, Politics and Place research group at GEES is available from Professor Mark Bassin (bassinm@adf.bham.ac.uk) and at: http://www.gees.bham.ac.uk/research/cpp/members.htm
